Hi and welcome! As a transformational dance facilitator and coach, my mission is to help you reconnect to your soulful passion and purpose — to share your gifts and embody all that you are meant to be. I will guide you through a journey of presence, awareness and authentic truth.

Dance has carried me through so many chapters of my life. It has been my best friend and my medicine for mind, body and soul — and this is why I created Niio Dance.

As a British-born Chinese woman, my start in life wasn’t always easy. I often felt out of place, growing up shy and serious, doing my best to fit in. But at a young age I discovered the freedom and joy of dance, and something in me opened. I fell in love.

I want you to reconnect with that same spark — your own joie de vivre — through this extraordinary portal we call the body. You can explore in the comfort of your home or step outside into nature; wherever you choose, I’ll be right there with you. With the audio downloads, you can even go completely offline and let the dance meet you in the wild.

My studies have taken me across the UK, India, Thailand and Japan and I’ve explored yoga, meditation, somatic therapies and many embodied practices. I hold an MA in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing and I've presented talks and workshops throughout the UK and Europe.

Some of the dances in the modules are quite energetic. So depending on the nature of your injury, you may need to move in a much more inward and gentle way, but there is always the possibility to move, even with quite 'severe' injuries. However, somatics is about 'listening into' your body and what it needs. You probably already know the answer. Or get the course, but know that you will revisit it again for a full bodied dance experience when your injury subsides. 

Whilst it is optimal to be able to move freely in a wide expanse of space (which is one of the benefits of moving outdoors!), we can also move in much smaller spaces. Plus we can move and travel in many directions, not just across the floor!

Dress to be comfortable, in unrestricted clothes, and layers in case you get warm. You may need to take care of dancing on a carpet with bare feet, in case of friction, but normally bare feet is best. 

The main issue is not your potential ability to move, as dance covers all kinds of movement - subtle, awkward, clumsy, irregular, erratic as well as slick or athletic. Dropping any expectations or judgements around yourself and your abilities is the first step in responding to your question! In doing so and relaxing, you may find that your perceived challenge around movement and dance may gradually dissolve.

As you sense into your body inspired by my cues, you may find new ways of moving that you had not done before. You will expand your movement potential, and experience a more clear and grounded presence that can filter into your interactions in life. You will 100% have a new experience of moving and being in your body.
