Raising the Love Frequency through Dance

A heartfelt talk of dance, love and connection at Noisily Festival this year.

This was the title of my talk at noisily festival recently - and to do that we need to first raise the love frequency within us - to connect to our hearts, and to connect that heart energy into the depths of our being - in short to infuse our trillions of cells with Love - yes, potent stuff.

Sorry for the pun but it was a heartfelt talk, probably one of the most candid and vulnerable I have given. I felt especially nervous going on stage this time, perhaps because my heart has been so tenderised by grief in the last year or so, and I expressed this to the audience. Losing the direct living line to one's ancestry brings home all the more how we have to live in our truth, to honour the truth of who we are. In this talk I went totally off-grid as, for instance I spoke of my experiences working with young children in Japan, where they are free at 2 years old, but by 3 they have begun to be moulded by their society..

We did a somatic exercise, we hugged, and we were moved ...and later on people came up to me on the dancefloor of the main stage of the festival to thank me, one girl telling me how tears had started to roll down her cheeks because of something that had hit home for her, others telling me how they spoke about the talk for ages afterwards...that is the biggest gift of all, that we can connect in our humaness. By sharing and owning our vulnerabilities and fears, they can transmute into our greatest lessons and wisdom. This is in part a kind of shadow work, but that is for another time.

Dance is not only jumping for joy, whooping in ecstasy, or shayshaying in a glittery costume. It can be taking off the lid of hidden emotions ..and giving us permission to say all that we are unable to express verbally, through our whole bodies and being. That in itself is a gift.
